A few days after BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) challenged Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to a public debate at the Hyderabad Press Club, the CM responded with a sharp counter, but not to KTR.
Speaking during a PowerPoint presentation on the Krishna river water dispute at Praja Bhavan on Wednesday, Revanth issued a fresh challenge—this time aimed directly at BRS chief and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). He invited KCR to participate in an open debate comparing the governance models of their respective administrations.
Without naming KTR, Revanth took a dig at him, saying, “I have no interest in debating at clubs or on the streets. I don’t enjoy such places — so please don’t invite me there.” Instead, he proposed that the discussion take place in the Telangana Assembly, underlining that the forum should be serious and constructive.
“We are ready to convene a special Assembly session on any date that KCR suggests. With the Speaker’s approval, we can even invite subject experts to join. As Leader of the House, I assure that the debate will be peaceful and uninterrupted,” he said.
The Chief Minister expressed his willingness to accommodate KCR in any way necessary for the debate, adding, “If KCR is unable to attend the Assembly, we are open to organizing the discussion even at his farmhouse in Erravelli. His comfort is our priority.”
Taking a veiled swipe at the internal rifts within the BRS leadership, Revanth said, “There was once a prince in Nepal who killed his own family to become king. If KCR’s family is facing internal strife, they should resolve their differences privately, with the help of elders and respected figures.”
He further remarked, “Unfortunately, these family issues have now spilled into the public domain. People are watching the feud between brothers-in-law, sisters, and other relatives unfold like a soap opera.”
