Telangana state will witness many political surprises before 2019 elections. While TRS President and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao already began efforts to lure opposition part leaders in a big way, the BJP is also trying luck to rope in strong leaders of other parties into its fold by 2019 election.
Enthused by the resounding victory of the saffron party in Uttar Pradesh, BJP intensified efforts to strengthen the party in non- BJP ruling states particularly Telangana.
Party leaders said that after the UP elections, BJP high command began series of consultations with some senior leaders of other parties who maintained good following among people. It identified Congress senior leader Komatireddy Venkatreddy and TDP working President A Revanth Reddy were among the popular figures in Telangana.
Internal bickering among leaders isolated Komatireddy in Telangana Congress and forced him to stay away from party activities in the recent past. Taking cue, BJP boss Amith sent strong signal to Komatireddy that the party is ready to roll out red carpet for him. The recent statement made by state BJP President K Laxman that many leaders from Congress and TDP are in regular touch with party high command strengthened ongoing speculations that Komatireddy is likely to join the party.
TDP senior leader Revanth Reddy who has been fighting tooth and nail against Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s ‘Dictatorial role’ is also most sought after leader for BJP. Revanth is already maintaining good relations with BJP leaders as he served the party before joining TDP. Sources said the TDP leader sought some time to take a decision on joining the BJP.
A clear picture on joining the two leaders in BJP will emerge only in the end of this year as the duo are seriously gauging political prospects if they switch loyalties to Modi party.
