Though former chief ministers Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and KCR appeared to have a cordial personal relationship, their tenure was marked by ongoing friction at the state level. Disputes between the two governments on issues such as the distribution of Krishna river water, outstanding power charges following bifurcation, and various other matters kept relations tense.
However, there seems to be a shift in the air as the new NDA and Congress governments in both Telugu states aim to rebuild positive relations. In a public statement last night, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stressed the importance of cooperative development. “It is crucial for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to grow together. We should not see each other as rivals in development; instead, we should work in unison to compete globally on the development index,” he stated confidently. This message reflects a constructive approach and could pave the way for mutual progress, especially in terms of knowledge sharing and logistical support between the states.
Interestingly, both Chandrababu Naidu and Revanth Reddy may meet at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Although no official meeting is scheduled, there is potential for a brief conversation if their paths cross at the summit. It will be interesting to see if Revanth’s recent remarks about collaboration and development come up during their interaction.
