Revanth Reddy Slams Delimitation Plan, Raises South India Concernsn

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, known for his outspoken and assertive political style, has once again taken a strong stand—this time on the issue of delimitation. He has questioned the Centre’s proposal regarding the reallocation and increase of Lok Sabha and Assembly seats, expressing serious concerns over its implications for southern states.

Reacting sharply to the proposal, Revanth Reddy stated that southern states, including Telangana, contribute significantly to the nation’s revenue through their strong economic performance, while political power remains largely concentrated in northern states. He argued that this imbalance creates a situation where “financial capitals” are undervalued compared to “political capitals.”

He further remarked that southern states should not be expected to “bow down to Delhi decisions” without fair consideration. Questioning the rationale behind the move, he asked what justice there is in expecting revenue-generating states to remain underrepresented in national decision-making.

While the proposed delimitation exercise is expected to increase the number of parliamentary and assembly seats, potentially benefiting several states including Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Revanth Reddy warned that any unfair implementation could disturb the federal balance. He emphasized that national interest must always be prioritized over political gains.

According to him, if delimitation is not carried out in a balanced and equitable manner, it could create long-term political and regional disparities, ultimately affecting the unity of the country.
