The absence of Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy from the Republic Day celebrations in Hyderabad has triggered widespread speculation in political and media circles, as no official information has been released regarding his whereabouts during the key state event.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka represented the government at the main Republic Day समारोह, held at the Secunderabad Parade Grounds and addressed by Governor Jishnu Dev Varma. The Chief Minister’s absence from such a significant occasion immediately drew questions from opposition parties and sections of the media.
This development comes amid reports that Revanth Reddy, who had travelled to Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) summit in Davos, has not been seen publicly there since January 22. Adding to the speculation, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) mouthpiece Namaste Telangana and other pro-BRS media outlets claimed that the Chief Minister may have left Davos earlier than scheduled and travelled to the United States.
According to these reports, Revanth Reddy is alleged to have quietly flown from Switzerland to New York, accompanied by close associates, including Rohin Reddy and another aide. Opposition voices have questioned why such a visit—if personal—was undertaken without any official communication, particularly when the Chief Minister was expected to return to Hyderabad for Republic Day commitments.
One media organisation went a step further, claiming it had evidence that Revanth Reddy stayed at New York’s upscale Plaza Hotel. However, these allegations have not been independently verified.
With no official clarification yet from the Chief Minister’s Office regarding his absence from the Republic Day celebrations or details of his overseas travel, the issue continues to fuel political debate and media scrutiny across Telangana.
