Mahesh Babu Launches South India’s First Dolby Cinema at AMB Cinemas Kapali, Bengaluru

Mahesh Babu ventured into the multiplex business in 2019 through a partnership with Asian Cinemas. Their first project, AMB Cinemas in Hyderabad, has enjoyed strong performance for over six years. Building on this success, the brand is now expanding to Bengaluru with a new outlet at the historic Kapali Theatre premises.
The Bengaluru property, officially named AMB Cinemas Kapali, is set for a grand opening on December 16, with Mahesh Babu expected to attend. This launch is particularly notable for introducing South India’s first Dolby Cinema. Until now, India had only one Dolby Vision screen in Pune. The AMB Kapali installation becomes the second Dolby Cinema in the country and the first in South India.
Dolby Cinema is a premium large-format theater concept that combines Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos with specialized auditorium design, positioned as a competitor to IMAX and other high-end formats. AMB Kapali will house nine advanced screens, including a 60-foot-wide Dolby Cinema screen, the second-largest in India.
Earlier this year, Dolby Laboratories announced plans to roll out six Dolby Cinema screens across India. Following Pune’s City Pride and now AMB Cinemas Bengaluru, upcoming locations include Allu Cineplex in Hyderabad, LA Cinema in Trichy, EVM Cinemas in Kochi, and G Cineplex in Ulikkal.
Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu and Asian Cinemas recently announced AMB Classic, their second multiplex in Hyderabad, a seven-screen property at RTC X Roads.
