After nearly three decades since their cult classic Satya, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma and actor Manoj Bajpayee are reuniting for a brand-new project titled “Police Station Mein Bhoot”, a horror-comedy that promises to blend fear with satire.
Sharing his excitement, RGV said: “Working with Manoj again after Satya is both nostalgic and thrilling. Fear is most frightening when it challenges the highest authority of safety, and a police station represents the ultimate symbol of power.”
Joining Manoj in this unique tale is Genelia Deshmukh, marking her return in a quirky and contrasting role. RGV added: “With Manoj’s intensity and Genelia’s vulnerability, this story will push boundaries of how we perceive horror within the walls of authority.”
The film has already rolled into production, with its first schedule wrapped up. The makers promise a gripping mix of fear, irony, and Ram Gopal Varma’s trademark storytelling style, setting the stage for something fresh in Indian horror-comedy.
This collaboration also brings back memories of Satya (1998), RGV’s landmark gangster drama co-written by Saurabh Shukla and Anurag Kashyap. The film, starring J.D. Chakravarthy, Urmila Matondkar, Manoj Bajpayee, Saurabh Shukla, Aditya Shrivastava, and Paresh Rawal, redefined Indian cinema, winning a National Award and later earning cult status. Considered one of the greatest gangster films ever made in Bollywood, Satya laid the foundation for many iconic crime dramas and inspired sequels like Company, D, and Satya 2.
Now, with Police Station Mein Bhoot, RGV and Manoj Bajpayee are all set to surprise audiences once again—this time with a spine-chilling yet witty twist on horror.
