It is now official. Controversial director Ram Gopal Varma is not going to bring in any senior actors to play the roles of senior N T Rama Rao and Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi in his forthcoming film “Lakshmi’s NTR,” a sort of biopic on the former chief minister and Telugu Desam Party founder-president in the perspective of his widow.
Varma told a popular Telugu television channel in a face-to-face interaction on Sunday that he had already started grooming a new comer who had resemblances with senior NTR.
He recalled that even for the role of dreaded dacoit Veerappan, he had picked up a look-alike new comer and given him extensive training.
“For the NTR role, too, I have chosen one person and is giving him training in mannerisms and style of NTR,” he said.
Asked about the role of Lakshmi Parvathi, too, Varma said he was taking another new actress.
“I am going to make the film for sure. No need for any doubts,” he said.
Varma’s clarification lays to rest all the speculations that popular actors like Mohan Babu or Prakash Raj are being considered for NTR’s role and actress-turned-MLA R K Roja for Lakshmi Parvathi character.
While there was no comment from Mohan Babu or Prakash Raj on the rumours, Roja, however, said she was ready to act in the film if she get a proper role, but she said Varma had not approached her till date.
The director also made it clear that there was no political agenda in making the film notwithstanding the fact that it was being produced by YSR Congress party leader.
“I will make the film in my own way, rather than under any other political pressure,” Varma said.
