Robinhood Song Controversy: Team Edits Out Hook Step

Share

Recently, certain dance movements in Telugu songs have sparked controversy, particularly steps choreographed by star choreographer Shekhar Master. Last year, objections were raised against specific moves in the Sithar song from Mister Bachchan and the Feelings song from Pushpa-2. This year, the issue resurfaced with Dabidi Dabidi from Daaku Maharaj. Now, the latest controversy revolves around the hook step in Adida Surprisu from Robinhood, performed by Ketika Sharma.

The Women’s Commission has taken notice, stating that inappropriate dance moves involving women will not be tolerated and warning of possible action. In response to the backlash, the Robinhood team has made subtle adjustments to the song. When the film was screened in theaters today, audiences were surprised to see that the controversial hook step had been removed. However, rather than replacing the step entirely, the team opted for a smart edit—using close-up shots of Ketika Sharma to obscure the specific movement that had sparked criticism.

While some viewers, especially younger audiences who were anticipating the step, might be disappointed, others are appreciating the film team’s quick response to the issue. With this move, it’s likely that dance choreographers will be more cautious while designing steps in the future to avoid similar controversies.
