A week after the death of his son Rohit Vemula, mother Vemula Radhika was admitted to hospital Sunday night. She was admitted to Intensive Care Unit of a private hospital. Radhika was hospitalised following her complaint of ‘chest pain’.
Radhika was shifted from the protest camp on the university campus and taken to a private hospital after she complained of ‘chest pain…heart pain’; she is now in ICU, Rohith’s brother Raja told media. Rohit, allegedly a ‘dalit’ research scholar, had reportedly committed suicide on the Hyderabad Central University (HCU) campus on January 17th evening.
Rohit was suspended from the hostel as he was involved in an attack on ABVP leader Susheel Kumar. He was one of the five research scholars suspended last year in connection with an attack on the ABVP leader. Meanwhile, a detailed probe is going on in Rohit’s suicide.
