Andhra Pradesh politics is back in full swing, with major parties engaged in a head-on battle. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), YSR Congress Party (YCP), and Jana Sena are at loggerheads, with the latest flashpoint being the Tirumala Laddu issue.
YCP firebrand Roja, known for her abrasive remarks, has recently shifted tone slightly, using cinematic metaphors to praise her party chief, YS Jagan. She remarked, “On one hand, Chandrababu claims he was elected out of public love and aversion for Jagan. Yet, he tries to curb Jagan’s influence by restricting his public tours. But we’ve seen the Baahubali film — no matter how hard Bhallaladeva tries, he cannot stop Baahubali’s rise. In this case, Jagan anna is Baahubali, while Babu is Bhallaladeva.”
Roja also reiterated the party’s long-standing narrative around EVMs, claiming that Chandrababu’s rise to Chief Minister, and that of the deputy CM, ministers, and MLAs, was facilitated by the voting machines.
Nearly 20 months after the elections, YSR Congress appears fixated on the EVM narrative, coupled with cinematic elevations of Jagan. Some YCP supporters on social media have urged the leadership to focus on ground-level engagement instead of making statements perceived as out of touch with reality.
