Moving beyond the halfway mark as excitement around the Indian Premier League continues to escalate, there is significant buzz around young Indian talent winning the hearts and minds of fans and selectors both and undoubtedly hoping that  their on-ground performance brings them into the reckoning for a spot in the Indian team.

Latest search trends analysis by Google reflects the rising popularity of new faces that are finding increasing resonance in the current season of the Indian premier league.

Deepak Hooda, the 19-year-old all-rounder who is playing for the Rajasthan Royals in his first IPL season has already gained much applause for his recent on-field performance including a match-winning innings against the Delhi Daredevils. With IPL fans clamouring for more information about this young man, he has managed to emerge as the most searched young cricketer on Google search this IPL season.

Moving from Delhi Daredevils, during this year’s auction, 22 year old Unmukt Chand (Mumbai Indians) made a tremendous impact with a match winning innings against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after being left on the bench in the initial matches by the Mumbai Indians. Search interest in him peaked after he scored his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) fifty during the match helping the Mumbai Indians register their first win this IPL season.

Among the young Indian players, Delhi Daredevils star, Mayank Agarwal takes the third spot on Google’s search rankings. From saving a tight contested match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad or his master innings against the Kings XI Punjab, Mayank Agarwal who joined Delhi Daredevils this season is wowing fans with his skills on the field and has been rewarded by fans online.

Fans may well be disappointed with Sanju Samson’s (Rajasthan Royals) weak performance in the IPL but surprisingly that has helped raise search interest around him. Not far behind Mayank Agarwal in search popularity, he emerges at the fourth spot among this year’s young stalwarts.

KL Rahul (Lokesh Rahul), one of the key batsmen in the Sunrisers Hyderabad batting line-up has also made it to the Top 5 even as he continues to work on his on-field performance, struggling to add impetus to his innings in the present season of IPL.

Some of those who do not find mention in the top 5 rankings, but managed to gain interest online include players such as Manan Vohra (Kings XI Punjab), Karun Nair (Royal Challengers Bangalore), Mandeep Singh (Royal Challengers Bangalore), Ishwar Pandey (Chennai Super Kings) and Shreyas Iyer (Delhi Daredevils).
