Have you ever come across a bundle of currency notes of Rs 1,000 denomination floating in the water? Locals near the Gateway of India in Mumbai were lucky enough to get a glimpse of it and grab a few of them.
Harischandra Somar who is a resident of Colaba is one among those who rushed to the spot upon hearing about the bunch of currency notes floating in the sea waters. He climbed down to pocket five Rs 1,000 notes close to the sea wall. Thanks to the low tide!
According to Santosh Pawar, a hawker from Colaba who was able to grab one Rs 1,000 note, a foreigner has thrown a bundle of currency notes into the water and asked the passersby to do a favour to themselves by taking home as many of them as possible.
The news spread like wildfire within no time and police reached the spot to take the situation into control. About 3 people who got hold of currency notes were taken into custody and released after recording their statements.
