The Telangana RTC is passing through the toughest of times. It is facing financial troubles and is unable even to manage its affairs. Financial issues are taking their toll on the TSRTC. The RTC is trying to sell off its vacant and unused lands to mop up revenues to make up for the losses it is suffering.
But all these couldn’t stop the newly appointed chairperson of the RTC and MLA Bajireddy Govardhan from demanding and getting a swank new car worth Rs 37 lakh. He asked for a Kia car for himself. This is a huge burden on the TSRTC, which is already reeling under the impact of a financial crisis.
Curiously, an Innova car was made available for the then RTC chairperson Somarapu Satyanarayana. After he left the post, the car, which is still in a fairly good condition, is confined to the shed. After Bajireddy took over the chamber was refurbished and renovated. New upholstery was bought. In addition, the entry gate was also changed to conform to the Vaastu rules. All these were a burden on the RTC exchequer.
Interestingly, for the repairs of the existing buses, spares from the condemned and abandoned buses are being used. The number of buses in the RTC fleet was also brought down considerably. The profligate spending has come in for lot of criticism.
