Sabarimala Airport Gets Nod From Environment Department!

The proposal to develop the greenfield Sabarimala international airport in the Kottayam district in Kerela was given permission. The proposal sent by the state government was given a nod by the Central Environment Department. With this, devotees of Ayyappa Swami are happy and this is a big happy news for them.

It is known that the Centre told a piece of happy news to the Sabarimala Ayyappa devotees in April this year. It gave permission to construct the greenfield airport in Kottayam near Sabarimala. As per the greenfield airport plan, permissions will be given in two stages. As part of this, the airport was given Environment permissions which is a crucial one for construction.

2263.18 acres of land were selected for the airport development. This area is called Cheruvally estate. 300 acres of additional private land will also be added to the plan. As per the Project techno- Economic Feasibility report, the airport will be developed with Rs 3411 crores in a PPP model.

Every year around one crore people visit the Sabarimala temple. The majority of them visit the holy shrine in November-January for the Mandala pooja. Out of them, around 15 lakh people account from Telugu states.
