Salman Khan and Farhan Akhtar War Drama Back in Talks

Bollywood star Salman Khan has been going through a rough patch in his career over the past few years. His latest film Sikandar turned out to be a box office disaster, adding to the string of underperforming projects despite his strong faith in them. Fans have been urging Salman to be more careful with his film choices, and it seems the actor himself has decided to shift focus. Instead of rushing out two films a year as planned earlier, Salman is now reportedly determined to wait, even if it takes longer, to come back with a strong and meaningful project.

Industry insiders reveal that Salman is looking to collaborate with directors he has never worked with before and is also interested in exploring genres that are new to him. This shift in approach has sparked talk that he is showing keen interest in working with filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar.

Interestingly, this collaboration was almost set to happen more than two decades ago. Around the year 2000, when Farhan was preparing to make his directorial debut, he had approached Salman with a massive war drama. The project was meant to feature multiple big stars alongside Salman. However, due to Salman’s packed schedule at the time, the film never took off.

Instead, Farhan went on to make his debut in 2001 with Dil Chahta Hai starring Aamir Khan, followed by Lakshya with Hrithik Roshan—a war-based film, though different from the one originally planned with Salman. Since then, despite being on good terms, Salman and Farhan have never worked together, mainly due to timing and script mismatches.

Now, buzz in Bollywood circles suggests that Farhan is revisiting that old war drama script, with strong rumors that it could be developed under the title Lakshya 2. Given the success of recent films set against army and war backdrops, industry talk is that this project, if finalized, could give a major boost to Salman’s career.

For now, nothing has been officially announced, and all reports remain speculative. But if Salman Khan and Farhan Akhtar finally come together after more than 20 years, it could well turn into one of Bollywood’s most awaited collaborations.
