A.R. Murugadoss’ Sikandar, starring Salman Khan, Rashmika Mandanna, and Kajal Aggarwal, released with high expectations but failed to make a mark at the box office. The large-scale action entertainer struggled both critically and commercially.
During the promotions of his recent film Madharaasi, Murugadoss opened up about the challenges he faced while making Sikandar. He revealed that the film was shot during a period when Salman had received serious threats, leading to strict security measures. This meant that filming could only take place after 9 PM and mostly indoors, which limited his creative options. Murugadoss also mentioned that Salman’s frequent late arrivals forced the team to shoot late into the night, relying heavily on VFX, while constant script interference added further difficulties.
Salman, who had remained silent until now, finally responded during the Bigg Boss 19 weekend episode, using his trademark humor. When comedian Ravi Gupta asked him to name his worst films, Salman included Suryavanshi and Sikandar, acknowledging that the audience didn’t embrace them but defending their unique storylines. He playfully countered Murugadoss’ claims, clarifying that his late arrivals were due to health issues and not negligence. Salman also mocked Madharaasi, sarcastically calling it “a big film and an equally big blockbuster.” He added that Sikandar originally belonged to Murugadoss and the producer, but both eventually left, with Murugadoss moving on to direct Madharaasi.
