Samsung has officially launched the beta programme for its latest operating system update, One UI 8.5, bringing improved usability, deeper ecosystem connectivity, and strengthened security to Galaxy devices. The beta rollout begins with the Galaxy S25 series in select regions, with users able to sign up through the Samsung Members app.

Enhanced AI Editing and Smarter Sharing

Seamless AI Photo Editing:
Photo Assist now supports uninterrupted, continuous AI-driven photo editing. Users can make multiple adjustments without saving after every change, and an edit history makes it easy to revisit and select the best version.

Smarter Photo Sharing:
Quick Share becomes more intuitive by recognising faces in photos and proactively suggesting contacts to send them to, eliminating the need for manual selection.

Improved Cross-Device Connectivity

Samsung continues to refine its device ecosystem with features that simplify access and communication across Galaxy devices.

Storage Share:
This new tool allows users to view and access files stored on other Galaxy devices—including tablets and PCs—directly through the My Files app on their phone.

Audio Broadcast:
Upgraded with Auracast (LE Audio) support, the feature lets users broadcast their voice via their Galaxy phone’s microphone to compatible nearby speakers or earbuds. It’s ideal for guided tours, classrooms, or small group events.

Stronger Security for User Protection

Theft Protection & Failed Authentication Lock:
One UI 8.5 introduces expanded security controls. The device will automatically lock if repeated failed attempts are made to authenticate via fingerprint, PIN, or password—even if the phone was initially unlocked. The broader Identity Check feature now protects even more sensitive settings.

Availability

The One UI 8.5 beta is now open to Galaxy S25 series owners in Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the UK, and the US, starting 8 December 2025.
