Sankranthi Releases Face Setback with Show Restrictions

Daaku Maharaaj is set to release on the 12th of this month, while Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam will hit the screens on the 14th. Both films are gearing up for a Sankranthi release and carry massive expectations at the box office. However, despite the excitement, a recent development regarding show timings might impact their overall revenue.

While the government has already approved a hike in ticket prices, there was some confusion regarding the permission for additional early-morning shows. The court has now directed the government to cancel 1 AM and 4 AM shows, citing concerns about crowd control and public safety.

In response, the government has allowed exhibitors to screen up to five shows per day, with one show being designated as a benefit show. This permission is valid for ten days during the festival period. The restrictions come in the wake of safety concerns raised after past incidents, including the Sandhya theatre stampede, prompting the Telugu state governments to take a cautious approach toward additional screenings.

While the restriction on early shows may slightly affect box office collections, it remains to be seen whether this impact will be significant or minimal. Given the high anticipation for both films, industry insiders are hopeful that they will still draw large crowds and perform well during the festival season.
