SC rejects plea against Chandrababu on T-Isuse

The Supreme Court Tuesday dismissed a petition seeking initiation of proceedings against Telugu Desam Party supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu for recanting on his promise of a separate Telangana state.
An apex court bench of Justice S.S. Nijjar and Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai dismissed the petition by Hyderabad-based advocates Sunkari Janardhan Goud and Gulagari Krishan who challenged the Andhra Pradesh High Court order quashing proceedings against Naidu before a metropolitan magistrate.
The high court Feb 13 quashed the proceedings before the metropolitan magistrate, who Jan 9 issued summons to Chandrababu Naidu.
The magistrate took cognizance of the complaint by the two advocates under penal provisions for cheating.
The advocates in their complaint alleged that during the 2009 Lok Sabha election and the state assembly election the TDP announced its support for the demand for carving out a separate state of Telangana out of Andhra Pradesh.
The petition said that the TDP did a U-turn and started an agitation opposing the division of Andhra Pradesh after union Home Minister P. Chidambaram Dec 9, 2009 said that the process of formation of Telangana would be initiated soon after the state assembly passes an appropriate resolution
