Mohan Babu’s Bold New Choices in Second Innings
Collection King Mohan Babu has been very selective about the projects he takes up in his second innings as a character artist. While he hasn’t completely stepped away from the limelight, he has made sure to appear on screen at least once every couple of years. Interestingly, he now seems more inclined toward collaborating with new-age filmmakers who bring fresh perspectives to cinema.
One of the biggest surprises in recent times was his casting as the main antagonist in Nani’s The Paradise. Sources suggest that Mohan Babu’s look and performance will be a complete revelation in the film. It is said that he was impressed with the script and was eager to work under director Srikanth Odela, known for his raw and rustic storytelling.
Adding to the buzz, Mohan Babu is also reportedly in discussions for a key role in the Telugu debut of Superstar Krishna’s grandson Jaya Krishna. The film, to be directed by Ajay Bhupathi of RX100 fame, has already caught attention due to this unexpected casting choice. While Jaya Krishna is still a newcomer waiting to prove himself, Mohan Babu’s involvement hints at something special about the story or the character designed for him.
Apart from these, Mohan Babu is said to be actively exploring scripts and even in talks for a major Tamil project. Especially after Kannappa, he seems determined to stay busy and take up impactful roles that suit his stature and experience. Whether this strategy will give him another memorable run in his 70s remains to be seen, but his choices clearly indicate that he is far from slowing down.
