The former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, met with Vallabhaneni Vamsi in jail yesterday, sparking widespread criticism. Many believe that Jagan set a wrong precedent by visiting someone accused of kidnapping an SC individual and engaging in antisocial activities.
Jagan’s sister and Andhra Pradesh Congress President, YS Sharmila, strongly condemned his actions. She pointed out that while Jagan finds time to visit criminals in jail, he avoids attending the Assembly, where he is supposed to represent the people. She criticized him for holding press meets to present his narrative but failing to confront the ruling party on crucial public issues.
Sharmila further stated that YSRCP leaders, who were elected by the people but refuse to participate in legislative proceedings, have no moral right to move among the public or speak on their behalf. She demanded that if YSRCP MLAs continue to evade the Assembly, they should resign immediately.
By making these statements, Sharmila not only criticized Jagan’s visit to jail but also exposed his reluctance to fulfill his legislative responsibilities. Her remarks have intensified the political debate, putting Jagan under pressure from multiple fronts.
