Is YS Sharmila’s party merger into the Congress on the cards is the debate that has been going on in Telangana politics for some time. Of late, we are hearing a lot about this and Sharmila is on a spree of meeting big leaders for this. She is said to have met senior Congress leader Jana Reddy recently.
The strategic moves made by YS Sharmila are said to have given a good outcome and it is almost fixed that YSRTP would be merged into the Congress party. Once everything is finalized, we might hear an official statement.
YS Sharmila comes from a big political family and the Congress party cannot give her a namesake post. It is said that Sharmila might get appointed as the Official spokesperson of the All India Congress Committee(AICC). It is said that Sharmila is in touch with Priyanka Gandhi.
It is also said that the services of YS Sharmila would be used in both Telugu states. There is a plan behind this. If she is just restricted to Telangana, then BRS might use this as done in 2018. So to counter this, Sharmila might campaign for the party in both states.
YS Sharmila would be made to campaign for the state in Telangana first and the party is said to have plans of shifting her to Andhra Pradesh. Telangana will go for elections this year and the other Telugu state is slated to go for general elections next year. Even with this order, Sharmila has to work in Telangana first.
It is also said that Congress wants to use her image to strengthen the party and hence no elected post would be offered to her. Without any post, she would be made to campaign for the party in the state.
It is known that the situation of the Congress party is very poor in Andhra Pradesh. The party has no leaders who can help it. So the Congress party leadership wants to use her services in AP. The politics in the state are very tight with no space for other parties. Ruling YCP, TDP, Janasena, and BJP are active already. So Congress wants a strong force to bounce back in AP and Sharmila might be the force.
