YS Sharmila, the daughter of united Andhra Pradesh’s former Cheif Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy, and the sister of the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, launched her party officially in Telangana. Sharmila has been very vocal from day one that she would fight for the unemployed youth of the state, and that she would not stop until justice is served.
While getting into dharnas on this occasion is very common, for Sharmila, every Tuesday is a day of protest, and in her recent protest, she fought for a youth named Paka Srikanth from Nalgonda, who took his life after he couldn’t find a job. She went to Nalgonda and offered her condolences to the family and took up a protest in the area. While the reason is noble enough, the way Sharmila is staging her protests is not going down well with people.
Sharmila’s protests start at 10 AM and end at 5 PM, and all the while, she is seated on a huge mattress, with a reclining pillow at the centre, supporting her, and two arm pillows, one for each arm. Had Sharmila gone about these protests in a normal way, there would have been some credibility to her causes, but the way she’s doing it seems to be irking everyone, as she is being seen more like a ‘Dorasani’, than someone who cares about the people, according to popular opinion. Considering that her protests are drawing more criticism than applause, it is time that she rectifies the situation.
