In what is being observed as a hate crime, a gunman shot down 9 people in the historic Emmanuel African-American Church in Charleston, South Carolina in America on Wednesday Night. Another person was severely injured and was rushed to a local hospital. All the victims were in a prayer meeting when the assailant opened fire on them.
Soon after the tragic incident, the attacker fled the scene and the police are on a lookout for this unidentified man. Reportedly, the police have also cleared off the church and its surroundings, following a bomb threat in the area. The search operations have intensified with helicopters and search lights being used in the operations.
Initial evidences say that the suspect was a 21 years old while man with a slim build and clean-shaven and was wearing a gray sweatshirt, jeans, and boots. The Emmanuel AME church is an iconic African-American church was built in 1816. This tragic incident marks yet another hate crime between the American whites and the blacks.
