The centre’s decision to deny special status to Andhra Pradesh has rattled off a series of intense political debates among the ruling and the opposition party leaders. While the TDP ministers are still hopeful of getting a positive nod from the centre, the party’s MPs seem almost certain of special status not being granted to the state.
In a media interaction in Vijayawada, the TDP MP Rayapati Sambasivarao was shot a series of questions by the journalists regarding the special status and TDP’s failure in convincing the NDA government. Deeply irritated with the pestering media, the MP stunned them as he said, “what else should I do to get the special status, parade naked?”
The MP further said that perhaps the centre doesn’t seem interested in according Andhra Pradesh with the special status. Rayapati also said that the BJP is acting stubborn in being convinced towards granting the special status. Meanwhile, another TDP MP JC Diwakar Reddy said that the party will now pressurize the centre to grant special funds packages.
