Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor has announced her upcoming animated film Choti Stree, which will explore her character from the popular horror-comedy franchise Stree.
Kapoor revealed the news at the trailer launch of Maddock Films’ Thamma, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, held on Friday in Mumbai. The event was also attended by producer Dinesh Vijan and Khurrana. Speaking to the audience, Kapoor said, “Maddock’s horror-comedy universe is expanding with Choti Stree as an animated film, releasing in theatres for all age groups. It’s an exciting time for India, and I’m thrilled to be part of this universe.”
The horror-comedy universe began with 2018’s Stree, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor. Its massive success paved the way for other films in the franchise, including Roohi, Bhediya, and Munjya.
Producer Dinesh Vijan added, “What’s unique about Choti Stree is how Amar Kaushik and Niran Bhatt have conceptualized it. The film transitions from animation to live-action in its final scene, connecting directly to Stree 3 and revealing the backstory of the Stree character. It will release six months before Stree 3.”
In 2024, Stree 2 emerged as the biggest Hindi hit of the year, earning over ₹500 crore at the global box office and cementing the franchise’s immense popularity.
