Nani in Talks with Tamil Director Prem Kumar for Emotional Drama
December 1, 2025
Natural Star Nani, after consecutive collaborations with Telugu directors like Srikanth Odela and Sailesh Kolanu, is reportedly in talks to team up with acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Prem Kumar, known for hits such as 96 and Meiyazhagan.
According to sources, Nani is keen to temporarily step away from his action-oriented image and explore a heartwarming, emotion-driven narrative — a space where Tamil filmmakers often excel. “Prem Kumar is celebrated for crafting deeply moving stories. Films like 96 and Meiyazhagan, starring Arvind Swami and Karthi, were lauded for their gentle, empathetic characters, standing out in an era dominated by hyper-masculine heroes,” the source explains.
Nani has long been praised for his performance-oriented roles. His recent success, Hi Nanna — a tender drama about a father and child — reaffirmed his strength in emotional storytelling. “Nani is an exceptionally versatile actor and will once again showcase his acting prowess. He has previously collaborated with Tamil directors like Vikram Kumar, Samuthirakani, and Gokul Krishna, effortlessly adapting to their slice-of-life filmmaking style,” the source adds.
Currently, Nani is busy with the action-adventure The Paradise, co-starring Mohan Babu and Raghav Juyal, where he takes on a rugged and intense persona. “After this fiery role, he is expected to reveal his softer, more tender side in Prem Kumar’s upcoming feel-good entertainer,” the source concludes.
