Looks like the svelte Chennai beauty Shruti Haasan has become greedy though in a good way. Apparently, the actress seems to be tired of multistarrers and she has decided not to act in films that feature an ensemble cast. Shruti revealed her greed to act in films which have stories that surround entirely on her.
Shruti further says that she will only act in films that have only one heroine. Well, for a heroine in Indian films, Shruti’s desire might indeed sound greedy and superficial, since all the film industries across the countries are heavily male-centric and patriarchal, with majority of the film’s runtime and also the credit of success often going to the star heroes and rarely to the heroines.
If we notice most of the films being made for the pan Indian audiences, one thing unanimously stands out and that is the male domination in films. Heroines no matter how big stars they are, often are resorted to a couple of songs and dances and a few love scenes here and there, leaving hardly any scope for performance. Now that she has attained stardom, Shruti can of course demand for films with more importance to her characters.
