Actress Simran, who is currently basking in the success of her latest film Tourist Family, recently made headlines for her candid response to a fellow actress’s remark that seemingly mocked her for taking on mother roles. Her strong reaction went viral, with many speculating that it was directed at actress Jyothika and her web series Dabba Cartel.
In a recent interview, Simran addressed the buzz directly. When asked if her comments were indeed aimed at Dabba Cartel, she confirmed it and said she had watched the series and found it well-made.
“Dabba Cartel is a nice web series. People are just overthinking and assuming too much. The person I was referring to understood my point and even messaged me to apologize, saying there was no intention to hurt me,” Simran shared.
She further clarified that while the other actress had every right to express her opinion, the way it was phrased came off as insensitive. “I simply spoke from the heart. People read too much into things. My intention was never to create controversy,” she added.
Earlier, Simran had revealed that the incident occurred when she messaged a fellow actress to compliment her performance. The actress allegedly responded with, “At least it’s better than doing aunty roles,” a comment Simran found dismissive. In response, she said, “There’s nothing wrong in doing aunty or mother roles. It’s better than doing meaningless or ‘dabba’ roles.”
On the professional front, Simran continues to earn praise for her role in Tourist Family, proving that impactful characters transcend labels and stereotypes.
