The high profile contest between Olympic medalists PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal was the talk of the town ever since the draws for the India Open Super Series 2017 were announced.
As expected, the two best players of the country easily reached the Quarter finals and set up an exhilarating thriller for the semi-final berth. Crowd gathered in good number to watch this epic clash. 2016 Rio Olympics Silver medalist, Sindhu ultimately trounced the 2012 London Olympics Bronze medalist, Saina 21-16, 22-20 in the thrilling contest on Friday.
Both the players looked equally good with deft game plan but a few errors committed by Saina gave the opportunity to Sindhu to seal the match. It was nonetheless a tight game which could have gone either side.
The only other international tournament where the duo clashed was Syed Modi International Grand Prix three years ago. Saina got the best of Sindhu in that clash.
