Sri Vishnu, known for his successful films like Brochevarevura and Raja Raja Chora, has faced a tough time at the box office with recent releases such as Om Bheem Bush and Swag failing to make an impact. However, his upcoming film, #Single, sparked controversy after the release of its trailer.
One particular line from the trailer, where Sri Vishnu yells “Shivayya,” drew comparisons to a similar scene in the teaser for Kannappa, starring Manchu Vishnu. This led to trolling and anger from the Kannappa team, intensifying tensions around the reference.
During a press conference, Sri Vishnu addressed the issue and clarified that the lines in question were meant to be lighthearted and humorous, not to offend anyone. He expressed regret over the misunderstanding and apologized, stating that neither the “Shivayya” reference nor any other lines were intended to hurt anyone. In an effort to resolve the issue, Vishnu also released a video apology, confirming that the controversial lines had been removed from the movie.
Acknowledging that some of the references, including those to Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna, could have been misinterpreted, Sri Vishnu explained that movie references and memes have become a trend in filmmaking today. He offered a sincere apology to Manchu Vishnu and anyone else who might have been offended by the content.
