When Baahubali: The Beginning released in 2015, it marked a watershed moment in Indian cinema, putting Telugu films on the global map. For the first time, a Telugu production broke into mainstream international cinema. Its sequel, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017), not only shattered box office records but also redefined the possibilities of scale, storytelling, and state-of-the-art visual effects in Indian filmmaking.
Even a decade later, the Baahubali franchise continues to resonate deeply with audiences. While the films have been revisited countless times on television and OTT platforms, the grandeur of watching Baahubali unfold on the big screen remains an unparalleled experience. Its ambitious world-building, iconic characters, and cinematic scale offered audiences a once-in-a-generation saga.
Now, on the 10th anniversary of Baahubali: The Beginning, director SS Rajamouli and producer Shobu Yarlagadda have announced an all-new presentation titled Baahubali: The Epic. This is not a simple re-release of the first two films. Instead, Rajamouli has seamlessly merged both films into one singular narrative, crafting a fresh theatrical experience.
Scheduled for a worldwide release on October 31, 2025, coinciding with Prabhas’ birthday week, the film has already created massive buzz. The teaser, unveiled recently, has been hailed as the most visually stunning version of Baahubali yet. The project has been recut, remastered, and enhanced with improved CGI, with industry chatter suggesting that some newly added scenes may also be included—though the team has remained tight-lipped on specifics.
Sharing his vision, Rajamouli explained:
“Both Baahubali films were originally conceived as one story, but the narrative was too vast to fit into a single film. For the 10th anniversary, I didn’t want to simply give audiences what they’ve already seen—I wanted to give them a whole new experience.”
