130 years old Congress party was lost to get deposits in all 174 Assembly segments except in Chipurupalli in 2014 General elections. Botsa Satyanarayana was only the Congress candidate that got deposits in Chipurupalli. Even after 9 months there is no change in Congress destiny.
Congress has lost deposits twice in last 9 months in Tirupathy Segment. There are many records noted with this election. TDP nominee Sugunamma got massive % of electoral support than any other MLA in previous elections.
She won over Congress Nominee by huge margin of 1,16,524 votes. Total number of votes polled in Tirupathy bi-election is 1,47,216. Her husband Venkata Ramana got around 41K votes over YSRCP nominee B. Karunakar Reddy in 2014 general elections. Congress got 9,628 votes and lost the deposit.
The only relief is that Congress nominee got more number of votes in bi-election than in 2014 general elections. Sugunamma breaks NTR majority who was elected from this Segment in 1983. NTR got majority of 47K votes in 1983 where as Sugunamma got 1,16,524 votes.
Congress overconfidence before the election paid heavy price. Congress leaders are in wrong notion that TDP has lot of dissidence after 9 months of its rule. Venkata Ramana has very good sympathy among the people. Congress ignored all these and decided to contest in Tirupathy.
