In the ‘Singam’ franchise, the question of what happens when the lion is released outside was explored brilliantly by Suriya. Director Hari crafted a storyline that matched the larger-than-life persona of the protagonist, taking the third installment to a universal level with its narrative and action sequences. As a result, expectations for ‘Singam 4’ are already sky-high, and fans are eagerly waiting to see when the fourth installment of the Suriya-Hari combination will hit screens.
However, the duo has hinted that it will take some time before the project begins. Meanwhile, Suriya seems ready to step into a real-life ‘Singam’ story. Reports suggest that his 47th film is locked with Malayalam director Jeethu Madhavan and has been confirmed as a police action drama. Interestingly, Suriya will portray a powerful police officer, but this time the story is inspired by the life of Daya Nayak, the famed Mumbai encounter specialist.
For those unfamiliar, Daya Nayak gained legendary status in the 1980s-90s for his relentless crackdown on Mumbai’s underworld. Rising from a humble SI, he became an encounter specialist who fearlessly targeted high-profile gangsters and mafias, earning the nickname of a real-life lion of law enforcement. Jeethu Madhavan’s upcoming film reportedly focuses on this period of Nayak’s career, capturing the action-packed and intense moments that defined his life.
While previous attempts to bring Daya Nayak’s life to the screen include the 2004 film Ab Tak Chhappan, a comprehensive cinematic portrayal of his entire career has not been realized. Suriya’s 47th project appears to focus specifically on Nayak’s encounter specialist phase, though the makers have yet to officially confirm the details. Fans and media continue to speculate on whether this real-life inspired action thriller will become another blockbuster in Suriya’s career.
