Swiggy Launches Standalone Instamart App Amid Rapid Expansion

Swiggy, the leading online food delivery platform, has introduced a standalone app for its Instamart service. This launch follows the company’s announcement that Instamart, its quick-commerce division, has expanded to 76 cities across India. While Instamart remains a feature in the main Swiggy app, users now have the option to download the Instamart app separately from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

The decision to create a standalone app follows online criticism of the Swiggy app for becoming too cluttered by incorporating too many features. However, this move is not entirely new. Swiggy has already adopted a similar approach with its Dineout restaurant reservation service, which operates both within the unified Swiggy app and as a standalone app.

Sriharsha Majety, MD and Group CEO of Swiggy, shared, “Instamart has been on a growth trajectory, and the recent developments show it’s on track to surpass food delivery in terms of penetration and scale. With a positive reception in new cities and categories, Instamart is poised for greater user adoption, potentially exceeding 100 million users. While Instamart will remain an important part of the Swiggy app, the standalone version will enhance our reach and provide an even better experience by meeting consumers on their terms.”

In addition to the Instamart app, Swiggy recently launched Snacc, a separate app for delivering food in just 15 minutes. Competing with services like Zepto Cafe and Blinkit Bistro, Snacc is currently available only in select Bengaluru neighborhoods.
