In the wake of a significant exodus from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) following its crushing defeat in the previous Andhra Pradesh elections, speculation has emerged regarding the future political alignments of key party figures. Among the names making rounds is that of former Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Tammineni Sitaram. Following his public distancing from the YSRCP, many have speculated that Sitaram could be preparing to join the Janasena Party, which has gained traction in the state’s political landscape.
However, in a recent public appearance, Tammineni Sitaram categorically denied these rumors, dismissing the speculation of his possible defection to JanaSena. When questioned by the media about joining the party led by actor-politician Pawan Kalyan, Sitaram responded firmly: “Em peekalekapoina aa Pawan Kalyan party loki ellanu,” meaning he has no intention of joining the party. The former Speaker explained that his recent absence from political circles was due to his need to care for his ailing son, who required medical treatment, and emphasized that he remains committed to the YSR Congress Party.
Sitaram further rejected the idea of his departure from the party, asserting that such rumors were baseless and likening them to previous speculations surrounding other political figures, such as Botsa Satyanarayana, allegedly joining JanaSena.
Despite Sitaram’s firm denial, the speculation has stirred reactions from Janasena supporters, particularly on social media. Some supporters expressed their skepticism about the prospect of Sitaram joining their party, with one commenter stating, “Tammineni went from being a Speaker to losing as an MLA. Even if he wanted to join our party, Pawan Kalyan would never accept him. A failed MLA speaking about our party with a 100% strike rate doesn’t make any sense.”
As political dynamics in Andhra Pradesh continue to shift, the focus remains on how former YSRCP leaders navigate their next moves in a post-election landscape. The response from Tammineni Sitaram signals a firm stance on his political affiliation, but the evolving nature of the state’s politics leaves room for further developments in the coming months.
