The Indrakeeladari temple row has shocked many as the temple priests have admitted of conducting secret puja to Durga Devi idol on the midnight of Dec 26 (Navami). The Pooja was conducted by decking up Durga Devi in Mahisashura Mardini avatar hoping for some special powers.
The priests admitted that the Pooja was done against the customs, traditions of Indrakeeladari temple and said they have done as per the instructions of the temple EO Suryakumari.
Earlier when the news came out, Suryakumari had lied to media stating that the temple was open in the midnight only for cleansing (Sudhi) the premises. It’s learnt that total seven people were present during the secret Pooja ceremony.
Chief priest Badrinath Babu, another priest Pranav, one Ghantasala Parthasarathy, Amanchi Sujan from Guntur and three other helpers were said to be present. Amanchi Sujan, who is specialist in decking up avatars of Devi, have been brought to the city much earlier on a pre-plan.
The secret Pooja said to have lasted for over one-and-half an hour after which the Alankarana as Mahisashura has been removed.
The statements of the accused have been recorded by the first town CI Kasi Viswanath. The police have earlier taken up the issue as sumoto case and after investigation, the accused have admitted of doing wrong. The chief priest Badrinath Babu has been transferred as soon as the allegations came in.
