New Delhi: Bollywood actor Tanushree Dutta, who triggered India’s #MeToo movement in 2018 with her allegations against veteran actor Nana Patekar, has shared an emotional plea on social media, claiming she has been facing harassment at her home for over seven years.
In a series of Instagram posts late Tuesday night, the 41-year-old actress said the prolonged harassment has severely affected her health and mental well-being. “Please someone help me! Do something before it’s too late,” she wrote, alongside a video of herself visibly distressed and in tears.
“I’m being harassed in my own home. People bang on my doors, and I constantly hear strange, loud noises above my roof and outside my door—especially at odd hours. This has been going on since 2020,” she said in the video, adding that she has contacted the police. “They have asked me to visit the station and file a proper complaint. I’ll probably go tomorrow or the day after.”
Dutta revealed that her living conditions have deteriorated to the point where she can’t manage daily life. “My house is a mess. I haven’t been well for a long time. I can’t even hire maids because I’ve had horrible experiences—some of them steal or create more problems,” she explained.
The actress, known for films like Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Chocolate, and Dhol, said that she gave up complaining to her building management years ago after receiving no resolution. “Now, I just use headphones and play Hindu mantras to calm myself and hold on to my sanity,” she said.
Tanushree Dutta was at the forefront of India’s #MeToo movement when she accused Nana Patekar and three others of harassment on the sets of the 2008 film Horn Ok Pleasss. Her bold move encouraged several women across the country to share their stories of sexual misconduct, leading to a nationwide reckoning.
Now, in yet another powerful revelation, Dutta has called for public support and official action to end the trauma she says she continues to endure. Her message is clear and urgent: “Please, someone help me before it’s too late.”
