Tata Motors has taken a significant leap in redefining in-car entertainment by introducing Dolby Atmos audio technology in its flagship electric SUV, the Harrier.ev. This strategic move enhances the premium driving experience, delivering cutting-edge audio immersion to Indian EV consumers.

Originally developed for cinematic and high-fidelity home audio experiences, Dolby Atmos is now entering India’s automotive landscape through this latest integration. With its multidimensional sound design, Dolby Atmos places listeners at the centre of the audio environment, creating a more engaging and spatially dynamic experience.

The Harrier.ev’s Dolby Atmos experience is powered by a sophisticated 10-speaker JBL audio system from Harman, featuring:

Four 6.5-inch door speakers

Four high-definition tweeters

One mid-range speaker positioned on the dashboard

One subwoofer integrated in the boot

An 8-channel amplifier for optimal acoustic performance

This setup transforms the vehicle’s cabin into a “concert on wheels”, offering studio-grade sound clarity, detail, and depth whether in motion or stationary.

To support this immersive experience, Tata Motors has equipped the Arcade.ev infotainment platform with apps like Gaana and Audible, providing native access to Dolby Atmos-enabled content without the need for external devices.

Speaking on the collaboration, Karan Grover, Senior Director – Commercial Partnerships (India, MEA) at Dolby Laboratories, noted, “This partnership with Tata Motors represents a new frontier in automotive audio. Together, we’re transforming the way entertainment is consumed on the move.”

Echoing this sentiment, Anand Kulkarni, Chief Products Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, added, “The integration of Dolby Atmos into the Harrier.ev reinforces our commitment to delivering not just sustainable mobility, but a rich and emotionally engaging driving experience.”

This move reflects a broader industry trend where automakers are leveraging advanced infotainment technologies to differentiate their EV offerings. With this innovation, Tata Motors continues to strengthen its leadership in India’s rapidly evolving electric vehicle ecosystem.
