TCS Shutting Down Operations in Capital

Of late, we have been hearing reports of Indian IT giants such as TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra etc. sacking employees in the wake of slowdown in the industry. The magnitude of the losses being incurred by the Indian IT firms can be gauged with the emerging reports of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT services company planning to fold up its operations in Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh.

According to reports, several employees of TCS working at company’s Lucknow office claim that they have already been informed that the company was planning to shut down its operations in the city by the end of this year. The ongoing projects in the office are reportedly being shifted to other cities.

So far TCS management has not made any official statement on the issue.

Meanwhile, employees working at the company’s Lucknow office have reportedly written to the Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Information and technology minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, seeking their intervention in the matter.

At present, TCS’s Lucknow office has 1700 employees and 500 support staff, who all will be jobless if the office gets shut down.
