The results of the Kakinada Municipal Corporation elections, counting for which is taking place on Friday, are on the expected lines, with the Telugu Desam Party-Bharatiya Janata Party combine sweeping the polls with over two-thirds majority.
Out of 48 divisions that went to polls in KMC, the TDP-BJP combine won 29 out of 42 seats, for which the counting was completed till now.The YSR Congress party has bagged nine seats till now. While the Congress expectedly drew a blank, three independents gave a rude shock to the main parties by winning the divisions with a big margin.
Naturally, the TDP leaders have started claiming it as a big victory and a referendum on the performance of the three-year old TDP government headed by N Chandrababu Naidu. The YSRC leaders have not made any comment so far.
