TDP Bounces Back On NTR Airport Row

Within hours of the Telangana Assembly adopting a resolution protest against naming of domestic terminal of the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport after late Chief Minister N T Rama Rao, the Telugu Desam Party bounced back seeking to take full political advantage of it. Senior Telangana TDP leader Mothkupally Narasimhulu on Saturday observed a day-long hunger strike at NTR ghat in protest against the Assembly resolution.
AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu visited the hunger strike camp and expressed his solidarity with Mothkupally as Telangana TDLP adopted a resolution opposing naming of domestic terminal of RGIA as NTR terminal. Naidu recalled that the TDP had announced in 2009 that it would change the name of the terminal, soon after coming back to power in the State. Taking a dig at Congress leaders, who were chanting NTR’s name, Chandrababu Naidu asked them from where Sonia Gandhi hails.
He said NTR was a Messiah of poor and did not belonged to one region. “It was NTR, who abolished “Patel and Patwari” system and provided real Independence to Telangana region”, he reminded. Another leader Revanth Reddy said it was NTR, who had given political life to KCR and 80 per cent of political leaders in Telangana region.
