As part of his 3-day visit to Singapore, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s maiden speech at Telugu Samajam in Singapore was received well by NRIs. Amid claps, whistles and slogans “CM Zindabad”, Naidu was cynosure of all eyes. Chandrababu won the hearts there with his hearty speech and explained why he has so much affection for Singapore.
“In 1960’s, Singapore was poor country compared to India but it was past. It has seen enormous growth over the last 3 decades and overtook India. No doubt, several Indians were behind this growth and the numbers of our population has grown over the years. Today, our population here (Singapore) is so high that even we (TDP) could participate in elections. In fact, Diwali was also well celebrated here. People of Singapore are so warm and respect everyone. Already 3 ministers in Singapore hail from Tamil Nadu and we should be proud of it,” Chandrababu said.
Mr Naidu has given a call to Telugus in Singapore to encourage investments in the state of Andhra Pradesh. “Earlier Singapore was also small village. It was used to be called as fisherman’s village. Today, it’s far ahead than India. Everything is possible if we have will and commitment. I’m sure going to overturn the fortunes of AP and AP will no doubt outshine Singapore,” Babu added. Babu’s speech was inspiring, moving and received thunderous response.
