TDP Drags Capital Bills To Court Again!

TDP seems to have decided to stall the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government’s plan to shift the administrative capital from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam as long as it can so that it can draw political mileage out of it.

On Tuesday, TDP legislative council member Deepak Reddy filed two separate petitions in the state high court – one opposing the recently re-introduced two bills on abolition of AP Capital Region Development Authority and three capitals formation; and the second one on abolition of legislative council.

On the council abolition, Reddy said the resolution passed by the state assembly was an infringement on the rights of the elected council members and sought the court to declare the resolution sent to Parliament as unconstitutional.

He said the two bills pertaining to the capital were referred to the select committee by the council chairman.

“Just because the chairman used his discretionary power, the Jagan government had brought in the resolution in the assembly to abolish the council only on political reasons,” the TDP MLC said.

In a separate petition, Deepak Reddy questioned how the capital bills be reintroduced the assembly when they were referred to the select committee of the council.

“The same bills were sent to the council once again which is ridiculous. The select committee decision stands, though the secretary of the legislature had not followed the chairman orders,” he argued.
