In the recently concluded GHMC elections, the Telugu Desam Party after a heavy duty campaigning by Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh suffered a shameful defeat in the hands of TRS. The ruling party in AP won just one seat out of 150 divisions.
With a huge threat to the party’s existence in Telangana, TDP hoped to revive its strength in the just concluded Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation elections. In the results that are declared to, TDP faced yet another tragedy as none of its contestants failed to win the battle, leaving the party out for a duck.
On the other hand, TRS has so far clinched 44 divisions out of 58 divisions. Congress won 4 seats where as the BJP secured 1 seat and Independents, mostly TRS rebel candidates, won 8 seats. With this, TDP’s future in the state is in doldrums.
