TDP Spokesman Faces Backlash Over Lokesh-IndiGo Claim

It has been three days since Telugu Desam Party official spokesman G. Deepak Reddy became a subject of ridicule in political and media circles after claiming on Republic TV that party general secretary and Andhra Pradesh IT minister Nara Lokesh was “keenly monitoring” the ongoing IndiGo Airlines crisis.

The trolling hasn’t stopped. Netizens continue to question how Lokesh — a state minister with no connection to aviation — could possibly oversee a national-level airline crisis.

Even Republic TV’s CEO Arnab Goswami reprimanded the TDP spokesperson during the debate, asking why he was trying to credit Lokesh for a matter that has nothing to do with either the Andhra Pradesh government or the TDP.

The IndiGo crisis, marked by mass flight cancellations across the country, has caused immense hardship to passengers and sparked widespread anger. As political parties targeted the Centre over its handling of the situation, Reddy attempted to project Lokesh as a “proactive leader” who was closely tracking developments.

But the move backfired instantly.

Social media users pointed out that Lokesh is currently in the US on a goodwill tour, making it impossible for him to “monitor” a major aviation disruption in India even if he intended to.
