Telugu Desam Party made its mark in Port Blair municipal elections, results of which were declared today. The party won at two places in the elections. Surprisingly, TDP stood at second position in 16 wards. The elections of Port Blair Municipal Councils were conducted on September 19th along with the elections of the Panchayats.
This is great achievement for TDP that landed in the territory for the first time. Elections were held for 24 wards. BJP is leading the polls by winning 10 seats, while Congress took second slot with 6 wins. While TDP grabbed third slot with 2 seats, DMK, AIDMK won one seat each.
It is rejoicing news for Chandrababu Naidu led TDP that is willing to expand as national party. The party is already in ruling in Andhra Pradesh and is in opposition in Telangana. Now, it has landed in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This win will give new hope for the party to venture into other states in the coming days.
