A lot is being said about the ‘bitter experience’ meted out to popular folk singer Shiva Nagulu by Rangasthalam’s team. The super hit ‘Aa Gattununtava’ song, originally sung by Shiva Nagulu, was replaced with DSP’s voice in the movie.
Shiva Nagulu said in a recent interview that he was hurt by the fact that nobody from the movie’s unit had informed him about his song being replaced with DSP’s voice. He said that his friends and fans were disappointed to see his song missing in the final film.
While DSP is yet to respond to the controversy, the film’s director Sukumar has given the exact technical reason that prompted them to replace Shiva Nagulu’s song. Sukumar said that they had shot the song with DSP’s scratch voice and that DSP later recorded the song with Shiva Nagulu for the final version.
But when Sukumar and the editing team were syncing the song’s video footage with Shiva Nagulu’s version, they had noticed several lip sync mismatches. This eventually left them with no option but to go back to DSP’s version. Sukumar also revealed that DSP had urged him several times to use Shiva Nagulu’s song in the movie.
