Out of the box, a distributor comes up investing huge money on a film. And then, some big distributors who are in the race drop out from buying certain films. Honestly some films of these big distributors which they buy with less investment score big time, while other big investments flop big time. Is there any specific reason behind this.
Sometime back, many big distributors have depended on the technicians working in a big project to get bits of information about, how is the film coming out. There are rumours that some talented technicians used to charge money from these distributors to share these bouts of information.
Basing on their revelations, couple of big distributors used to quote money to buy theatrical rights. If the talk revealed by technicians is superb or average and hype is zero in market, these distributors quote low figures to producer, but they have to dole out huge sums if talk and hype are at peaks.
There are times where technicians acted as double agents and spread ‘super hit’ talk even for 3-4 days movies, thus tricking distributors to invest heavily. Anyway, the whole thing of technicians leaking news to distributors about a film is now being take very serious by the producers. They want every technician to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement to control this. What’s the use of this NDA if a technician saves a thing with a distributor, as they do everything in secret.
